APPLICATIONS / SURFACE PREPARATION

Better results
start at the surface.

Garnet for abrasive blasting: cleaning, coating removal and preparation for corrosion protection.

Mineral abrasive and the cleaning process

Prepare the substrate for the next stage.

The durability of subsequent layers also depends on the condition of the substrate. Abrasive blasting removes rust, paint residues and contaminants and creates a profile suited to the planned coating system.

Hard, dense garnet grains act on the surface in the blasting stream. Results depend on grain size, pressure, nozzle distance and operating technique.

Application areas

01

Steel structures

Preparing structural components for protection and painting.

02

Ships and infrastructure

Cleaning hulls, bridge components and industrial installations.

03

Coating refurbishment

Removing old layers and preparing surfaces for further work.

Less dust. A carefully selected process.

The manufacturer describes garnet as a low-dust abrasive. This does not mean a dust-free process — working conditions also depend on the coatings being removed, the substrate and the installation. Select dust extraction and operator protection to suit actual conditions.

Reusing abrasive

Garnet may be suitable for reuse after appropriate recovery and cleaning. The number of cycles depends on the process, grain wear and contamination; it is not a fixed property of every batch.
